Water experiments, Marae Trip & assembly
Hi all,
I really enjoyed our discussions on the properties of water today. I am looking forward to our science experiments tomorrow! We will be investigating condensation, evaporation, transpiration and surface tension. - How cool!! We will take pictures and pop them on the blog.
Just a reminder that we are going to the Marae on Thursday so all permission slips and money need to come in ASAP. We will be looking at the protocols we need to learn before we go.
Also..... we are hosting assembly this week!! Watch out for some of our amazing musicians, artists, and writers!!
What a busy week of learning this will be!

Monet in 22
We are using Claude Monets' Water Lillies as an inspiration for our own water lily pictures using Oil Pastels and dye.
Room 22's Talented Learners
We have been learning about what kind of learner we are. I'm music smart. There's people smart, self smart, nature smart, word smart, body smart, logic smart, and picture smart. I wonder what learner you are?
Art
This week in art we have been copying the style of the artist, Monet, and we are doing water lilys and lily pads.I have done red water lilys , white water lilys and some lily pads.the colours we used were pink, purple, dark green, light green, yellow, red and blue. Although this style looks easy it is actually quite hard!

Room 22's SMARTS!
Wow! What a great week of learning! We have conducted our own statistical investigations, written letters and discovered what smart we are:) We all took a survey to find out how we learn best. We have discovered that many of us are music smart meaning we like to learn with music, we can play music or like to sing and often havve songs going round in our heads. We have discovered that some people are self smart meaning they like to learn independently and some are people smart meaning they like to be part of a group and share their ideas. Many of us were also nature smart meaning we are really interested in finding out about the world around us, collecting things and looking after animals and birds. Some were body smart. These people like to build things, act, and play physical sports - they learn by doing. Some were picture smart -they like art and like to learn by putting things into pictures. Logic smart people love solving puzzles and working things out. They are deep thinkers. Last of all were the word smart people. They love playing with words, finding new words and writing & reading.
Through doing the survey we found out we can have multiple smarts, normally 1,2 or 3 smarts that we like best. By understanding our learning smarts, we can understand ourselves and others better. We can also pick tasks that help us learn. Ask us what smart we are!
Looking forward to next week

Room 22 2012!!
Room 22 week 1.
This has been a fantastic week. I have started to get to know all the awesome people that make up room 22 this year. We have sorted out class jobs, made a class treaty and decided how we want our class to look, sound and feel like this year. We have begun to learn class routines, get our stationary and read the City of Ember. We have been swimming, learned how to play dodgeball and begun to work on our personal crests. We have also written some acrostic poetry and helped our buddies in room 7 to write some too! I have started doing a little bit of testing to find out just how talented everyone is:)
This week I have learned lots of interesting facts about people in room 22 and I have particularly enjoyed the marvellous manners they all have.
The highlight of my week has been teaching acrostic poetry and seeing the class teach the 5 year olds in room 7 what they had learned.
I am looking forward to another fab week next week and teaching the class bloggers how to use the blog. I am also looking forward to meeting parents on Tuesday, seeing the wonderfully creative personal crests and finding out what kind of learner everyone is.....!!
**Remember to bring togs tues & fri for class swimming or everyday if you want to do flipperball or swim team.
**Remember to bring stationary and spelling/homework books if you took them home :) - there might be bird bucks!!
Wishing everyone a safe and fun long weekend
